Irish Wolf Creature Design

Irish Wolf Creature Design

Shagback Wolf (Lupodunum hibernicus) — a creature imagined through layers of research, sketch passes, and speculative storytelling.
This design began with a question: What if Ireland still had wolves? From archaeological traces to behavioral studies of pack-hunting canids, I explored out the anatomy, social dynamics, and ecological niche of this fictional predator. The Irish name Mac Tíre Nua — “New Wolf” — reflects its imagined evolution in a shifting landscape.
Every design pass refined its silhouette, movement logic, and group behavior — until it felt like a creature that could walk out of a field guide and into folklore.
This piece was part of my ongoing exploration of supportive creature design — where worldbuilding meets field biology, and narratives are supported by the creatures of the landscape.
